Dock Parties!!

Dock Parties!

At the end of March a lot of people who left their boats, now were starting to return to Paradise. We are called “staybehinders”, because we did not go home, or sail on across the rest of the Pacific. When friends get back together, this is always reason for a party.
The first party was held at the Casa Bianca restaurant, as Birgit from Pitufa, was flying through Tahiti on her way from the boat in the Gambiers Islands back to see her mom in Austria.
From Right to Left: Birgit, Shelly, Lili & Steve from Liward, Greg from Whisper, Martina & Florian from Esperanza (also from Austria).

From Right to Left: Cheryl & Mark from French Curve, Greg & Linda from Racalata.

From Right to Left: Linda from Racalata, Adrian (our mechanic) from Attilla, Mike and Birgit again.

The next party was out on the dock where Steve & Florian played some music for us all.
Not sure who everyone in this photo is, and I hope I don't screw it up. From Left to right this time is ??(cute blond), Cheryl from French Curve, Alice & Steve from Ocean Star, Jess from Silent Sun, Kim & Steve from Northstar, Lili with her back to us and Mark from French Curve.

The musicians: Steve from Liward, unknown Ukulele player, and Florian from Esperanza. All professionals at one time or another in their lives.

Mike and Adrian enjoying the music and their favorite beverages!

Shelly holding on to Martini from Silent Sun in his dress tie.

More mega yachts keep showing up to the dock as well. This one reminds us of Darth Vader.

And in case you don't realize how big it is, look at the size of the boom compared to the guys washing the cabin house top!!

It's mast is one of the tallest in the world, she's called “Anatta”.

This green ketch is one of the lightest in the world we were told, with everything made of carbon fiber. This is the one that went 34 knots on the crossing!! Hold on!!

The World ARC rally is in town this week too, so Marina Taina is pretty much full. 34 boats doing a hand holding circumnavigation in only 1.5 years!

Just past the marina is McDonalds, if you can believe that. They also have some of those inflatable toys for the kids to play on, but I think it cost extra, more than just the happy meal!

It is the end of rainy season, but it does still rain on occasion, which can create fabulous rainbows!

This one says the pot of gold is in Silent Sun!
