Kevin's last day in Tahiti

After everyone else left, we got to keep Kevin for 1 more day.  He is Mike's only son.  And me, well I never had a kid before.  It is kind of fun!!
We had to take Kevin to see the Tres Cascadas. It was kind of grey, but not really raining when we left to drive up there. It is about a 30 minute drive up the North side of Tahiti from Papeete. We made it there, but just as we got to the base of the waterfalls it started to rain on us.
Here is Kevin and I at the second falls.

This is the photo we got of the third falls, just before the rain started.

This is me holding a hat over the camera to get a shot of Kevin and Mike at the falls in a heavy downpour.

So we got back in the car and turned on the heater! That seemed kind of funny being in Tahiti with the heater on, but it dried us off and warmed us up. We stopped to get a photo of the surf that was up and peeked at the blowhole.
As we were driving back to town, Mike saw a sign “racing karts” with an arrow to the left. We decided we were ahead of schedule anyway, so we turned around to go check it out. We drove up along a big river for about 2 miles and came to a place on the right side of the road that looked like a racetrack. Sure enough, Go Kart Racing! The boys were ecstatic. They walked and checked out the track and decided it was doable, even though it had recently rained here too. The camera battery was dead, but we had some left on Mike's old Iphone, so I got to take some video. They had a ball, while I played photographer.

The boys at the Go Kart race track after the run, with big smiles!

Using the rain water buckets to shower off the crumbly pieces of asphalt, rubber and grime.

All cleaned up and out for dinner, we met at the 3 Brassers bar and brewery. Thank God they have lots of covers, for sun in the daytime, but for the rain this night.

Did I mention it was rain season? Deluge.

But Rick and Jasna made it to the party.

And the beautiful Tehani, too!!
