Swimming with Sharks and feeding Stingrays!

The day before the wedding, we took everyone out for a sail aboard Avatar. We went from Cooks bay, out the pass and back into D'Opunohu Bay. Here is Linda at the helm, with Chuck, Dad and Mom supervising.

Tehani and Scott were along as well. No one wanted to miss out!

Jaye explaining something, on the sail aboard Avatar.

Cousin Mike is acting like he understands what she is saying ;-).

We loaded Windsome's dinghy on the fordeck so we could get everyone to the Ray feeding and Shark swimming destination. We anchored in the shadow of Magic Mountain, near the underwater tiki dive. Chuck was nice enough to stay aboard on anchor watch (I think he really wanted some peace and quite for a nap!) Avatar's dinghy had Dad, Mike, Mom, Scott, Tehani and me aboard.

Not far behind was the Windsome dinghy with Jaye, Linda, Irwin, Kevin and Mike.

Scott and Tehani were having fun, finally being together again after several months apart. (He is a chef on a mega yacht)

We have been to this amazing spot several times before, but it was back in July. There was a bit more current in the water and it was deeper than I remembered. Still a must do when coming to Moorea!!
Kevin touches his first ray.

Tehani and Jaye with a ray and some needle fish.

Dad touches a ray, while Mom hangs on to the dinghy.

Linda pets a ray.

Karen (Mom) backing up from a ray. (I don't think she was too keen on it!)

A ray swims right at Dad and Tehani.

A black tip shark swims by.

Shelly feeding a ray.

Linda and Dad scope out the sharks swimming around. Notice they are holding on to tag lines from the dinghies because of the current.

Chip (Dad) swims above a ray.

Linda with a lot of sharks in the background!!

Tehani and Scott enjoying the water.

A local guy had some fresh tuna scraps. No wonder they left us with our sardines from a can!!

Shelly and Kevin pet a ray.

Black tip sharks do not bother people, they are just hoping for some left overs from the rays!

Sharks and rays are fun! They're everywhere, they're everywhere!

Kevin, so cool, hangin out with the sharks!

Bodies and rays.

A good shot of the ray's mouth and belly.

Another local with better food than ours. Kevin saying, “woah dude!”

Kevin saying, “Oh no, this one wants to kiss me!”

Tehani in the dinghy.

Back in Cooks Bay, the crew tries to put up the flags for the bride's big day, but the flags did not want to cooperate and broke a string. Chuck was generous enough to be the one to go up and pull down the lost flags and halyard.

The deck crew watches Chuck's bravery.

In the end, we hung those flags from the lifelines but the groom made sure all the flags were flying on our ship for the wedding day! Thanks honey!!
