Christmas cookies and Avatar dinners

Before everyone arrived, we dug out the Christmas decorations and made the boat festive for the season. Windsock Santa was holding his own from the stay-sail, with the French flag in the spreaders.

We put up the tree and decorated it with all the ornaments and hung Santas from above.

Our stocking was hung from the mast waiting for the real Santa to arrive on his seahorse.

Snoopy and Woodstock decorated their tree and the Snowmen sang me Christmas carols from the galley window.

On Tuesday, before the wedding, the girls got together to bake some Christmas cookies. I think I must have been a bit crazy, but I saw photos of some on Facebook and I was jealous! So I wrote to my cousin Colleen to get Grandma Adah's recipe and voila, Christmas cookies in Moorea! Actually I could not remember the last time I made these and it was a lot of fun! Jasna from Calypso was there, along with Jaye from Windsome to help Mom and I cut and bake.

A few days later, Mom and I covered them all with icing (after the wedding!).

There is nothing as wonderful as breaking bread and sharing food with friends and loved ones.  We had a dinner almost every night aboard Avatar. Here is Cousin Mike, enjoying stories from Rick and Jasna, Santa's little helpers.

Jaye and Irwin catch up with Mike.

The Tuesday night dinner was a hamburger barbecue for 12!!. Dad, cousin Mike, Irwin and Jaye to starboard.

Kevin, Rick and Jasna aft.

Mike, Chuck and Linda from Jacaranda, and Mom on the port side.

Then I sat in the companionway entry after the food was served.

The buffet was served from the salon table. Jaye's salad was delicious too!

Wednesday after sailing on Avatar and swimming with sharks and rays all day, we had a group pizza dinner at the hotel restaurant that was organized by Tehani. Dad, Kevin, Mike, Shelly, Mike, Chuck and Irwin.

The other end of the tables was Jaye, Linda, Tehani, Scott, a few of Tehani's friends and Mom hidden behind Dad.

The soon to be Rickman family! Kevin, Mike and Shelly.

I love that Kevin, like his father, knows his way around a galley!!

The Christmas Eve family dinner was two Lamb roasts stuck with garlic slivers and roasted garlic heads in the foil.

Kevin, Shelly (taking photo) and Mom and Dad got to sit at the dining table.

The two Mikes got to sit on the setee. It was a yummy Christmas Eve dinner!
