For
the past several months we have been anchored on and off by the North
end of Marina Taina. The rainy season is now over and it is cruising
season again! The docks at the marina have slowly been filling up,
until the day I realized how many mega yachts there are at the dock!!
The small light blue hulled catamaran, at the left of the photo, is
74 feet! He looks ridiculously small with the others beside him.
In
this photo there are 5 yachts over 150 feet! The one on the far
right being the winner, because he is the only one with a helicopter!
Looks
like lifestyles of the rich and famous, but we don't know who owns
any of them.
You
have to admit, the marina does a great job of wedging them in there
side by side.
All
of these boats have to be brought in by a Pilot, due to their sheer
size. Usually Pilots only get to drive container ships!
I
still am amazed at how they got that big motoryacht between the two
sailboats.
And
on the far end is this giant catamaran. This boat has the record for
the third fastest time sailing around the world. Less than 80 days!!
Can
you believe how skinny those hulls are?!?!
She
looks fast just sitting still tied to the dock!
Quite
the rigging set up too.
The
tube looking things are how they go down into the hulls. No stepping
down from the salon! And look at the size of the dagger boards!
Cool
graphics. Google this boat to see how amazing it is. Hails from
London. The folks at Multiplast who converted it from a racing yacht say "it is the fastest cruising boat in the world!"
The
green yacht has a submarine on it! Does that top the helicopter in
the back ground?
On
the other side of the green yacht, they have a highly varnished
classic Chris Craft type boat hanging in the davits. This boat
definitely has the most style in my mind!!
A
mega yacht powerboat sandwich!
This
is some sort of research boat with cool graphics that just landed.
Finished
with his work, the Pilot is picked up by his launch.
Gotta
say, not a bad neighborhood we live in here in Tahiti!!
